Carplay installation tutorial on Porsche Macan PCM 4.0
We will see here in pictures how to install Apple Carplay on a Porsche Macan with PCM 4.0 system.
Required hardware: a T20 torx screwdriver.
Installation time: 40 minutes
Inventory: Carplay module and wiring.
This includes the module, a wifi antenna, 2 LVDS (video) cables, the power cable, the sound cable, and a USB cable (do not plug it in if using the wireless device).
STEP 1:Â REMOVING THE VENTILATION PANEL
Let's start by removing the ventilation on the left.
Then the one on the right.
Pull the entire cover with both vents towards you.
STEP 2:Â REMOVING THE PCM 4.0 CAR RADIO
Open the small drawer.
Unscrew the 4 screws.
Once the screws are unscrewed, the drawer is easily pulled out.
Here is the result once unscrewed and the drawer removed.
Insert the extraction keys.
Pull the PCM station towards you.
STEP 3: CONNECTIONS
Remove the power plug from the station (quadlock).
Make a bridge (by-pass) by connecting the kit's cable between the original quadlock and the station.
Remove the green video jack.
Plug it into the female video jack of the kit.
Connect the male video plug of the kit to the location of the original green plug.
For sound, simply plug the small dongle into the AUX-JACK jack (optional in some cases).
Reassemble the radio by placing the module behind the screen and enjoy the carplay by pressing the NAV button.
STEP 4: ENJOY
You can test by pressing the NAV button on the PCM for 2-3 seconds to switch to the Carplay interface.
