Carplay installation tutorial on Range Rover Evoque
We will see here in pictures how we install Apple Carplay on a 2012 Range Rover Evoque.
Required hardware: a T20 torx screwdriver.
Installation time: 40-50 minutes
Inventory: Carplay module and wiring.
This includes the module, a wifi antenna, 2 LVDS (video) cables, the power cable, the sound cable, and a USB cable (no need to plug it in if using the wireless device).
STEP 1: REMOVAL OF THE SCREEN
First thing, unclip the speed sub-counter cover.
Operate the hatch to move the steering wheel.
Pull the steering wheel towards you for better access.
A screw on the left side.
A screw on the right side.
Place the spatula like this to unclip the plastic cover.
A screw.
Once the assembly is unscrewed, you can remove it.
The screen is held by 4 screws.
Remove the screen.
STEP 2: CONNECTIONS
Simply remove the blue video plug and plug it back in by-pass on the supplied connector.
Same for the power jack on the left side of the screen.
STEP 3: ENJOY
You can test by pressing the NAV key on the display to switch to the Carplay interface.
