Carplay installation tutorial on Range Rover Sport
Here we will see in pictures how to install Apple Carplay on a 2016 Range Rover Sport
Required hardware: T20 torx screwdriver
Installation time: 40-50 minutes
Inventory: Carplay module and wiring.
So we count the module, a wifi antenna, 2 LVDS (video) cables, the power cable, the sound cable, and a USB cable (no need to connect it if you use the device wirelessly).
STEP 1: REMOVING THE SCREEN
you have to remove the dashboard first.
Unclip as is the board.
Remove the screws that hold the metal trim in front of the screen.
Now remove the topping.
Screws hold the sides of the touch buttons.
Still 4 screws behind the touch buttons.
The screen can be easily removed now.
STEP 2: CONNECTIONS
Simply remove the blue video plug and reconnect it in bypass to the connector provided.
The same goes for the power plug on the left side of the screen.
You also need to make sure to install the provided AUX cable so you can have Audio in your vehicle. (choose AUX as your Media Source before entering Carplay mode)
Note: Some SUV's also have to connect into the CD head unit.
STEP 3 : ENJOY
You can test by pressing the NAV button on the phone to switch to the Carplay interface.
