Carplay installation tutorial on Range Rover Sport In Control system
Here we will see in pictures how to install Apple Carplay on a 2018 Range Rover Sport, same as a Jaguar F-Pace with InControl 10.25-inch screen.
Tools needed: a T20 torx screwdriver
Installation time: about 120 minutes
Inventory: Carplay module and wiring.
We count the module, a wifi antenna, 2 LVDS cables (video), the power cable on 2 levels (at the station and at the steering wheel), the sound cable, and a cable to recover the original microphone.
STEP 1: REMOVAL OF THE SCREEN
Start by removing the cover that runs along the dashboard.
To access the screen and the position.
Then remove the rear seat vent cover.
The ventilation panel cover is held in place by 4 screws.
The ventilation panel is also maintained by 4 screws.
Carefully remove it by unplugging the gray connector.
It is this gray connector that will serve as a bridge to power the Carplay module.
To remove the screen, it is very simple, remove the 4 screws.
Disconnect the video cable (LVDS) from the display.
It is this pink LVDS cable that will connect to LVDS_IN at the Carplay module.
To pass the microphone, it is better to remove this part to pass properly in the door post.
STEP 2: CONNECTIONS
Make a bridge directly on the green plug located behind the steering wheel - top part of the cover.
The connections remain simple. You have to plug the connector number 1 in the socket number 1, as a reminder, it is the socket of the control panel of the ventilation.
In number 2, it is the cable of the screen that you connect in LVDS_IN and in number 3, it is the cable provided in the kit that will go in the screen (LVDS_OUT).
STEP 3 : ENJOY
You can test by pressing the TEL button on your steering wheel controls to switch to the Carplay interface.
