Carplay problem on Alpine car radios, here is the temporary solution
Specifically, the new operating system update means that CarPlay no longer appears as an option on Alpine car radios, with Bluetooth remaining the only way to connect the head unit to the mobile device. Let's take a look at the proposed solution.
But users on social networks are complaining about even more annoying behavior in their vehicles. A real problem especially when you are used to using Apple Carplay.
Some say similar problems have also been experienced with older versions of iOS, while one user claims that once they tried to connect an iPhone running version 15.5, the head unit stopped working with all iPhones, regardless of the operating system.
"It worked flawlessly for the first few weeks. After the version 15.5 update, CarPlay no longer works. I tried connecting another iPhone that was on 15.4 with the same results. Wired or wireless, the device does not connect to CarPlay, no matter what device I connect now," they said.
"Somehow, firmware 15.5 must permanently change the head unit. I have done several factory resets on the Alpine and reset privacy and location on my iPhone, deleted all CarPlay settings and Bluetooth devices with the same results."
Those who contacted Alpine say they were told to wait as an investigation is currently underway, but of course, there is no dead line as to when a corrective patch might eventually be released to resolve the bugs.
In the meantime, it looks like users have found a temporary fix that does the trick. It all comes down to the Siri settings on the iPhone.
Just go to Settings > Accessibility > Siri and look for the Voice Replies entry. Set it to Always, and everything should now work properly.
Neither Apple nor Alpine has acknowledged the problem, so it's best not to expect a fix anytime soon. Of course, there will most likely be a solution to this major problem in the near future.
