How to hide an application on Apple Carplay?
Have you just purchased a new vehicle with CarPlay? Or maybe you followed the instructions to add this feature to your new AUDI? Maybe you just want more control over what's on your infotainment system. Either way, you need to know how to customize the apps you see and finally know the method to hide the apps one doesn't want on the Carplay screen. The number of apps that are compatible with Apple's in-car navigation and entertainment system continues to grow. If you want to rearrange the apps or remove the ones you no longer use in your car, here's how to customize your CarPlay apps.
REORGANIZE APPLICATIONS
You probably already know how to reorder and organize your apps on iOS. The process is quite different for CarPlay, but it's still pretty simple and straightforward. You don't even have to be in your car to do it. Here's what you need to do.
On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > CarPlay.
Tap the name of your car, then tap Customize.
Next to the app you want to reposition, you'll see a reorder button. These are three horizontal lines, sometimes referred to as a "hamburger symbol."
Touch and hold the reorder button and drag the application to its new position.
Now let's say you have a bunch of apps cluttering up CarPlay that you don't even use. Here's how to get rid of those unwanted apps. And since Apple Carplay is displayed directly on your vehicle's home screen, it's also possible that you just don't want to share the available apps with different passengers, thus avoiding unwanted notifications.
REMOVE APPLICATIONS
From your iPhone, go back to Settings > General > CarPlay.
Tap the name of your car, then Customize.
Each app you can delete has a delete symbol, a white minus sign in a red circle, to the left of its icon.
Tap the delete symbol next to the app you want to remove from CarPlay, then tap Delete.
It's important to note that this will not remove the app from your iPhone. Also, some built-in Apple apps cannot be removed from CarPlay at all. If you don't want to see it, you can drag it to the end of the list.
