What's new for CarPlay with iOS 14

The iOS 14 update has allowed us to take advantage of several new features in CarPlay, which can only be useful to improve our comfort on board the car and drive safely. Let's discover together the new CarPlay features with iOS 14!

NEW WALLPAPERS

It seems that drivers did not appreciate Apple CarPlay's bland colors (black and white). That's why the new iOS 14 update has new wallpapers that will please everyone!

There are five wallpapers available in the update. They come in two versions: light and dark depending on the time of day. Note that the user cannot import his own images.

In addition, it should be noted that the new CarPlay interface better supports vertical or square screens.

NEW APPS

By launching iOS 14 on Apple CarPlay, the American firm is giving drivers access to new applications in their cars. These include meal delivery services, parking and electric charging stations, not to mention GPS, messaging and music apps.

A VIRTUAL CAR KEY

The new iOS 14 update allows drivers to have a virtual key to open and start their car with their iPhone or Apple Watch. Note that it is possible to share the key with family members, or create restricted profiles. As a reminder, this feature is only available on certain new 2021 car models. Only BMW offers this option.

Remember that the driver can reorganize the display of apps via the settings of his iPhone.

SIRI VOICE CONTROL

As you probably know, Apple CarPlay includes Siri voice control, a very useful function for driving with your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel. It's compatible with all the vehicle's controls: knobs, buttons, keypads and touch screens.

Finally, we remind you that CarPlay is compatible with more than 500 vehicle models, such as BMW, Audi, Buick, Bentley, Chevrolet, Ford, Fiat, Honda, Jeep, Kia, Hyundai, etc.
