Apple’s next-generation CarPlay is still not available, despite the company’s website indicating that the first models are expected to arrive in 2024. However, new images of a CarPlay 2 widget interface have recently surfaced, offering a sneak peek into Apple’s ongoing development.

Leaked CarPlay 2 Images Reveal a Familiar Widget Interface

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Aaron Perris shared a discovery of the CarPlay 2 widget interface, publishing four images that were found in an EU database—an archive we've seen CarPlay 2 assets appear in before.

The leaked images show off several new widgets that will likely be a part of the next-generation CarPlay experience. Among them are:

• Clock Widget – Displays the time in a selected city
• Weather Widget – Provides a detailed weather forecast
• Calendar Widget – Highlights your next event
• Navigation & Now Playing Combo Widget – Combines navigation and media controls
• Standalone Now Playing Widget – For media playback controls

As shown in the images, CarPlay 2 retains the familiar column of apps along the left edge of the screen, just like the current version of CarPlay. This layout ensures that the interface remains intuitive and easy to navigate for users accustomed to the existing design.

A Familiar Look with New Features

The leaked CarPlay 2 interface closely resembles the standard widget layout found across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, which will be comforting for Apple users. This uniformity allows for a seamless transition from other Apple devices to the new CarPlay experience.
