Carplay installation tutorial on Volkswagen Golf 7

We will see here in pictures how to install Apple Carplay on a Golf VII MK7

Required equipment: a T20 screwdriver and 2 Volkswagen Audi car radio extraction keys.

Installation time: approx. 40 minutes

Inventory: Carplay module and wiring.
This includes the module, a wifi antenna, 2 LVDS (video) cables, the power cable, the sound cable, and a USB cable (do not plug it in if using the wireless device).

STEP 1: REMOVING THE GLOVE BOX

Gently open the compartment with a spatula, there are 3 pins that hold quite well.

You have to unscrew the first screw

For more comfort, remove the plastic like this:

then 3 screws at the top and 2 screws at the bottom (some models 3 screws)

STEP 2: REMOVING THE MIB CAR RADIO

Insert the pins to remove the station from its location.

Pull it towards you

Pinch the 2 plastics and pull towards you, don't force, it comes by itself.

STEP 3: CONNECTIONS

Plug in.

The connection is very simple. 2 video cables and a power outlet.

(OPTIONAL) At this point, if you want to use Siri, simply add the supplied microphone below the steering wheel so that it is discreet.

Replace the glove compartment and the radio and enjoy the Carplay by pressing the MENU button for 2 seconds.
