Waze is useful in many ways, but compared to other navigation apps, it's often a huge difference with a community-powered reporting system. Waze is designed for urban navigation, and while it excels on long trips, its limitations have been partially removed, at least for some users.

The app can only generate routes of up to 1,600 kilometers. In other words, if you want to take an incredibly long trip and travel more than 1,000 kilometers at a time, Waze can't find a way to your final destination.

In this case, the solution is very simple. All you have to do is find a point closer to your starting point and destination and ask Waze to give you directions to that point. Once there, just set Waze back to the final destination, or choose another point if the distance is still over 1,000 km.

As I said, many users have lifted the limit, but on the other hand, keep in mind that routes over 1,000 km are not necessarily very accurate in terms of data. Real-time traffic conditions change as you approach your destination.


Since it is a navigation application, Waze also supports other methods of setting a destination.

If you're a long-time Waze user, you probably already know that Waze has a huge database of locations around the world. After all, it's a Google app, which makes a lot of sense.

However, if you want to be accurate to a specific location, you can very well use latitude and longitude or GPS coordinates, like in Google Maps. Simply copy and paste your coordinates into the address bar in Waze.

At the same time, the app also allows users to search for street intersections rather than specific addresses.

To do this, you can copy and paste the address from Google, or type the name of two streets separated by an "and". For example, if you're in Paris and want to go to the intersection of 6th Avenue and a random street, simply type "6th Avenue and Rue de l'Alsace" for example in the Waze address bar.


If you've used Waze recently, you've probably noticed that the speed limit indicator has a circular dial that fills in when you exceed the speed limit.

The rings have their own limits, usually twice the legal speed limit for the section of road you are currently driving. In other words, if you are in Paris and driving in a residential area with a speed limit of 20 km/h, the maximum speed allowed by the speed limit ring will be 30 km/h.

In addition, when driving on roads with no speed limit, such as some sections of German highways, the speed limit ring is completely disabled without any restrictions.
